This study explores individuals’ attitudes toward female status-dominant relationships using data from the seventh wave of the World Values Survey.

Findings reveal that men, on average, show greater aversion to female status-dominant relationships than women. Both men and women exhibit less aversion in countries with higher gender equality.

However, the difference between men and women widens in countries with higher male unemployment rates, driven by men’s heightened aversion.

The study underscores the role of macro-level contexts in shaping attitudes toward female status-dominant relationships.
